The Adelaide head office of People’s Choice is South Australia’s first property to achieve a market-leading 6 Star NABERS Energy Rating – without a boost from the purchase of Green Power.
Located at 50 Flinders Street, building owner Cbus Property and CBRE Property Management have implemented a program of continuous improvements to the property’s Building Management Controls System since its completion in 2015, leading to two consecutive 5.5 Star ratings prior to the current 6 Star achievement.
People’s Choice Spokesperson Stuart Symons said achieving the highest possible NABERS rating was a testament to the commitment of People’s Choice, and the building owner Cbus Property and managing agent, CBRE.
“Every business wants their head office to stand out, both as a place to work and as a contribution to the city. Our Flinders Street head office was designed to achieve a 5 star Green Star and 5 Star NABERS Energy rating, and working with Cbus Property we achieved that with the design,” Mr Symons said.
“Our management team has focused on continuous and innovative improvements, which has produced outstanding sustainability and energy management outcomes since we opened the doors in 2015.
“Cbus Property and CBRE’s commitment to maintaining best-in-class air quality and thermal conditions and their commitment to sustainability should be applauded.”
Mr Symons said the latest improvement to the building took place in December with the installation of a 66kW solar photovoltaic system which has generated around 40,000kWh of electricity in the first four months of operation. The property was also awarded a 4.5 Star Rating for NABERS Water.
People’s Choice shares its 21,450 sq m, A-Grade facility with the South Australian Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, Cbus Super, and insurer Bupa. It is Adelaide’s only core office block with an on-site crèche.
